ABOUT

Welcome to Elevating Leadership - a consultancy specialising in supporting leaders across all industries and sectors to explore, develop and maximise their leadership impact at an organisation level, sector level and a systemic level.
Elevation is the act of building upward. In leadership this means continuously raising yourself and those around you, so the structure of success stands higher with every shared step.
My work is rooted firmly in the belief that when leaders perform and just as importantly, feel at their best, the impact of their influence creates a ripple effect throughout an organisation, locality, sector and system, enabling others around them to perform and feel at their best too.
As a former CEO and senior leader of 20+ years across several sectors (including education, policing, adult social care, the civil service and the private sector), I combine deep, direct knowledge and experience of leadership at all levels within a diverse range of contexts with my core values of integrity, collaboration and fairness.

Areas of specialism

System Leadership
“Systems thinking is a discipline for seeing wholes. It is a framework for seeing interrelationships rather than things, for seeing ‘patterns of change’ rather than ‘static snapshots.” ~ Peter Senge
As an experienced system leader, experienced facilitator and thought leader alongside, I combine direct experience with effective skills in facilitation, writing and public speaking. I have written and contributed to multiple system leadership papers for education during my tenure as a CEO and facilitated groups of academy trust CEOs to shape their thinking and knowledge of system leadership in practice. I have provided keynote speeches at national conferences and events, offering unique ideas and perspectives that others across the system have utilised and built upon.

Cross Sector Collaboration
“The best leaders are not confined by the boundaries of their own industry; they draw insight from the widest possible pool of knowledge, because innovation often comes from the intersections.” ~ Roselinde Torres
My leadership career spans education, adult social care, policing, the civil service and the private sector so I have seen (and explored) firsthand, the challenges and opportunities common across a diverse range of sectors and industries. My cross-sector career puts me in the uniquely valuable position of understanding how to bring sectors together towards a common purpose and mission. My experience allows me to draw on the rich tapestry of meaningful connections developed with a range of experts, innovators and leaders across industries.

People Strategy
“Leadership is not about being in charge. It’s about taking care of those in your charge” ~ Simon Sinek
As a former CEO of a national membership organisation, I led work with academy trust CEOs and leaders to enable the development of their organisational people strategy. This included delivering dedicated online development sessions, delivering commissioned consultancy work with trusts and writing extensively on the subject. Prior to this my roles in adult social care, policing and the civil service were all focused on workforce development, succession planning, leadership development and talent strategy.

Coaching and Mentoring
The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches but to reveal to them their own.” ~ Benjamin Disraeli
I am an ILM qualified coach with a degree in Psychology. As a CEO, I have coached and mentored academy trust executive leaders in a wide range of contexts and as a line manager spanning 20+ years, I have led a range of teams of varying sizes and diversity (often employing coaching and mentoring approached within this). In my role in the Civil Service, I successfully coached and managed over 50 early career leaders looking to fast track to senior leader roles within 3 years.
